My Genesis: The Beginning

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a natural pull toward organization, attention to detail, and understanding the “how” and “why” behind problems. I tend to explore every angle until I find a solution—yes, sometimes to the point of perfectionism. However, every now and then, I’ll run into something that simply can’t be solved by effort alone. In those moments, I’ve learned to step back, release control, and trust God and time to handle the rest. But overall, I genuinely enjoy the process—that’s why family and friends often come to me when they need something handled with care and intention. And if I have the time? Well then sure, why not!

I’ve come to believe that one of the clearest ways to recognize your purpose—or at least your current assignment—is to pay attention to what fulfills you while also serving others. It may sound cliché, but there’s real truth in it. Administrative support and content creation were things I naturally did for people, without realizing they were valuable, marketable skills.

The shift into freelancing these marketable skills was catalyzed by one of the most life-changing moments I’ve experienced: becoming a mother. The birth of my daughter opened a new chapter while closing another—something I didn’t plan or foresee at the time. But looking back, it was necessary. God used these circumstances with intention, creating the space for me to turn something I loved into something sustainable. Motherhood brought a deep sense of fulfillment and clarity, and it only made sense for me to step into a role where I could be both present at home and purposeful in my work. It allowed me to wear two hats at once: mom and boss—it’s one of the greatest satisfactions ever.

“Sometimes it takes more strength to let go than it does to hold on.”

That transition led to the creation of A. VA Creatives. And despite what many assume, “A. VA” is not an acronym filled with descriptive words such as, Amazing Virtual Assistants—it’s simply named after my firstborn, Ava… mommy’s superstar.

Motherhood, and everything that followed, has taught me that sometimes it takes more strength to let go than it does to hold on. I’m grateful for every moment that nudged—or even pushed—me toward growth, urging me to relax and release whatever I was holding onto. I’m equally grateful for each door that opened to the next. The journey itself has always been the reward.

I’ve learned that the answers are often right in front of us, though at times we choose not to see them. Life really is simple—we’re the ones who complicate it. Yet these are the basic tools to realizing one's assignment(s) in life: awareness & simplicity. Recognize what you enjoy, and when you do, don’t overthink it—just begin. See how far it takes you.

You shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever you do shall prosper.
— Psalm 1:3
